Research Topics

The Foundation for Alternative and Integrative Medicine (FAIM) shares peer reviewed research to evaluate promising treatments. These studies offer documentation on old and new avenues for healing.

Biofield Research

Biofield science is an emerging field of study that seeks to understand the subtle energy fields that surround and permeate all living beings. These fields are composed of electromagnetic and other subtle energies that influence the emotional, physiological and mental states of living organisms.

Cancer Research

Cancer research outside the scope of chemotherapy and radiation is vital in the effort to offer effective, non-toxic options. Scientists are finding innovative protocols in laboratory research that will hopefully be as successful in humans as in animals.

COVID-19

COVID-19 is the infectious disease caused by the most recently discovered coronavirus. This new virus and disease were unknown before the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. COVID-19 is now a pandemic affecting many countries globally. (~from "What is COVID-19?" on the Q&A on coronaviruses (COVID-19) page on the World Health Organization website)

Dental Health Research

Bacteria in the mouth can create many deadly illnesses in the body including heart disease, oral cancer and other infections. Research is proving that in order to have good health a person must have good dental health as well.

Deuterium Depleted Water

Deuterium-depleted water (DDW), also known more ambiguously as light water, is water which has a lower concentration of deuterium than occurs naturally. Deuterium is a heavier isotope of hydrogen which has, in addition to its one proton, a neutron that roughly doubles the mass of the hydrogen atom.

EFT Research

Clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is an evidence-based method that combines acupressure with elements drawn from cognitive and exposure therapies. The approach has been validated in more than 100 clinical trials.

Energy Medicine Research

“Energy medicine is the diagnostic and therapeutic use of energy – heat, light, sound, gravity, pressure, vibration, electricity, magnetism, chemical energy, electro-magnetism – basic forces that surround and interpenetrate us. Energy medicine includes a whole range of hands-on methods, hands-off methods, energy techniques, and devices. Energy medicine involves energy of particular frequencies, intensities, wave shapes, and other characteristics that stimulate the repair and regeneration of one or more tissues.” ~Dr. James L. Oschman

Grounding Research

Earthing (or grounding) refers to the discovery of benefits – including better sleep and reduced pain – from walking barefoot outside or sitting, working, or sleeping indoors connected to conductive systems that transfer the Earth's electrons from the ground into the body.

Healthy Aging Research

Much research is happening to help people live longer lives. The goal is to add life to your years as well as years to your life. Lifestyle, nutrition, emotions, avoiding toxins, and exercise are components of many research projects.

Mistletoe Research

Mistletoe is a semiparasitic plant that grows on several types of trees such as apple, oak, pine, and elm. Mistletoe is one of the most widely studied complementary and alternative medicine therapies in people with cancer. In Europe, mistletoe extracts are among the most prescribed drugs for patients with cancer. Mistletoe extracts are usually given by injection under the skin or, less often, into a vein, into the pleural cavity, or into a tumor. Few side effects have been reported from the use of mistletoe extracts. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved mistletoe as a treatment for cancer or any other medical condition. (~from Mistletoe Extracts (PDQ®)–Patient Version, National Cancer Institute)

Nanosilver Research

Many bacterial infections are beginning to defy all antibiotics. One of the few answers to this dilemma may be the use of nano metallic silver particles. Silver is already being used throughout the medical industry to fight and eliminate bacteria, extracellular viruses and fungi. The uses of silver in the medical industry are many and varied. Much research has been done to determine the safety and efficacy of nanosilver products for virus, bacteria, yeast and fungus. FAIM has compiled a number of these papers to help our readers begin their study of this exciting approach to health and wellness.

Ozone Research

The world is facing crisis in management of infectious diseases. The mainstay of treatment has been largely antibiotics. As superbugs come forth, these drugs are failing. Ozone (O3) is the strongest naturally occurring oxidant. It is produced in nature by lightning,or ultraviolet irradiation or can be created with a high arc discharge for medical ozone. Ozone therapy is not merely antibacterial, it inactivates many viruses as well.

Parkinson's Disease Research

Parkinson's disease is a long-term degenerative disorder of the central nervous system that mainly affects the motor system. The symptoms generally come on slowly over time. There is no cure for Parkinson's disease and treatment is directed at improving symptoms. Research is ongoing.

Stem Cell Research

Autism, spinal cord injury, arthritis, multiple sclerosis... At first glance, these incurable conditions, devastating and life-altering for patients and their families, have little in common clinically. But each condition responds well to a cutting-edge, research-based therapy that is changing patients’ lives when conventional medicine has failed them. Research is emerging and showing the benefits of stem cell therapy.
