Amanda Whittal, PhD, CNHP, and Eszti Bakos, European Resource Coordinators for the Foundation for Alternative and Integrative Medicine (FAIM), interview Rogier Hoenders, MD, PhD, an integrative psychiatrist and head of research and clinical affairs of the Centre for Integrative Psychiatry in Groningen, the Netherlands.
Hoenders’ work and passions extend across research, education, and healthcare innovation. He initiated and directs the Lentis lifestyle program, where patients and staff are trained in mind-body medicine and a healthy lifestyle, and he is the founding president of the Dutch Consortium for Integrative Medicine and Health.
As a global expert, Hoenders works with the World Health Organization and the presidents of other national consortia for integrative medicine on developing policies regarding integrative medicine.
In this interview, he shares with FAIM his insights on the practice of integrative psychiatry, and integrative medicine in general – it’s value and how it can play a role within our existing health systems.
