One of the most exciting areas of research at FAIM involves energy medicine. This is an area of medicine that will likely be the future. There are so many facets and I will try to share information about three of the therapies FAIM finds most promising.

Research shows promising results using the technology of neurofeedback combined with the Vielight, a photobiomodulation device. In Alzheimer's disease the brain shrinks over time. Certain forms of light energy may help defeat this problem. Near infrared wavelengths are particularly good because they travel deeper into tissues and they are not absorbed by blood and water on the way to the brain. This is called photobiomodulation and is delivered via the Vielight nasally. It is most beneficial to combine the Vielight and neurofeedback with a neurofeedback specialist. There are many benefits to using photobiomodulation. When you free up ATP in the body with this light therapy, your body has more energy to work with.

Frequency Specific Microcurrent, FSM, brings relief to so many patients for so many conditions. It is low risk, non-invasive and incredibly effective. Frequencies are pulses per second measured in hertz and are electromagnetic pulses. The frequencies appear to change a variety of conditions, relieve pain, and improve function in a large number of clinical conditions. FSM is especially effective at treating nerve and muscle pain, as well as inflammation and scar tissue. Shingles responds very well to one frequency combination that eliminates the pain in 20 minutes and causes the lesions to dry up and disappear in approximately two to three days. The frequencies have created observed effects in asthma, liver dysfunction (reducing elevated liver enzymes), irritable bowel and many other conditions. It has been observed that patients who are treated within four hours of a new injury including auto accidents and surgeries have much reduced pain and a greatly accelerated healing process. This is a therapy that is not talked about that much but is very effective. FAIM is hopeful that more people will learn about it and use the therapy.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy is another exciting field. In our conversations with Bob Dennis he explains: “The most important thing to know about pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) is that, based upon the reports of physicians and health care providers with many years of clinical experience using a wide range of different products, some forms of PEMF clearly have beneficial effects on chronic pain as well as a wide range of other medical conditions that are difficult or impossible to treat by conventional means.” Even though there are many varied opinions regarding PEMF, FAIM has found it to be a beneficial therapy. PEMF is far more efficient, is pain free, and can work at much lower levels of energy and frequency than some of these other methods, so it is inherently safer than TENS technology. Because the effects of PEMF can persist for a very long time after the use of PEMF has stopped, it is logical to conclude that PEMF is acting to correct the problem that has been causing the pain, not just blocking the pain signal. This is in stark contrast to most mainstream and many alternative treatments for chronic pain, especially the use of narcotics. The beneficial effects of PEMF can last days, weeks, months or even years after treatment.
