Weston A. Price
1870-1948
The Weston A. Price Foundation, a nonprofit tax-exempt charity founded in 1999 to disseminate the research of nutrition pioneer Weston A. Price, D.D.S, whose studies of isolated non-industrialized peoples established the parameters of human health and determined the optimum characteristics of human diets. His research demonstrated that men and women achieve perfect physical form and perfect health, generation after generation, only when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats.
The foundation is dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the American diet through education, research and activism and supports activities that contribute to this objective, including nutrition instruction, organic and biodynamic farming, pasture-feeding of livestock, community supported farms, accurate labeling and other related movements.
This year’s theme: "The Politics of Food" explored the political mechanisms used against the growing farm to consumer food movement and provided strategies for protecting family farms and food artisans, as well as practical advice on soil health and grass-based farming. Important political issues presented included discussions on healthy school lunches and issues related to GMO crops.
Some of this year’s other great seminars included the following topics:
- The Gut and Psychology Syndrome
- Gonzales Nutritional Therapy for Cancer
- Traditional Diets
- Cooking and Traditional Food Preparation
- Holistic Farming Techniques
- Heart Disease
- Politics of Food
- Dental Health
- Environmental Health Issues
- Many Others
The next Wise Traditions will be held in Dallas Texas at the Sheraton, November 11-14, 2011.
